Wildflowers of Montana Series by Vanessa Vale @goddessfish @iamvanessavale

INTERVIEW

Welcome!  Thanks so much for taking time for this Q&A time!  What is the sweetest thing someone has done for you?

In high school, I used to play winter soccer. In the snow and the cold and soggy miserable weather. My dad would come to every single game. I remember one game in particular where we played against a boarding school and there were (obviously) no parents from the opposing team. There were also no parents from my team either since there was eight inches of snow on the ground and we were far from home. But there stood my dad watching the game. The entire game. No chair, no hot chocolate. I wasn't even that good of a player. Looking back, this stands out very clearly in my mind.

How would you spend ten thousand bucks?

Besides the usual pay for kids' college or a new bathroom, I'd say I'd take the family to Australia. I've always wanted to go and see EVERYTHING. I have friends in Sydney and in Perth so we'd have to cover the entire country. It would be a hardship (not!), but I would be up for it!

Where do you get your best ideas?

Bathtub. Absolutely. I sit there and my mind settles.

What comes first, the plot or characters?

Characters. I come up with their problems and their conflicts first. In The Lawman, Eleanor thought she was a murderer and was a mail order bride for Ryder, a town sheriff. Talk about conflict. Then I build the plot around that.

What does your main character do that makes him/her special.

I find some weird talent they may have. Can the heroine sew? Can she ride well? Can she yodel? Can the hero throw knives or cook or shoot like a marksman? This talent may not be pivotal to the plot, but it's in the story and tells about the character's personality.

Hyacinth can't stop thinking about the sandy-haired newcomer, but while she longs for happiness with Jackson, she feels unworthy to marry him or anyone else. Guilt from a tragic childhood incident dogs her even into adulthood, leaving her to feel undeserving of Jackson's love.

But Jackson isn't a man so easily dissuaded. He's determined to rid Hyacinth of her pain and make her his wife. Can he heal her past hurt and awaken her to the carnal pleasures he wants just with her? He senses a great capacity for love and passion in this fair Lenox flower. Unlocking it will mean a battle of wills, but love is worth the fight.

Who doesn't love the romance of the old West? Vanessa Vale takes the sensual appeal of rugged cowboys a step further with her bestselling books set in the Montana Territory. They are much more than just sexy historical westerns. By introducing sexual taboos into this otherwise traditional romantic setting, Vanessa has won the loyalty of a fan base that never knows quite what to expect with each new series.

"Montana Maidens" was the first to push the envelope with strong BDSM themes. "Montana Men" followed suit with softer themes but lots of deliciously graphic sex. "The Bridgewater Series" showcases ménage relationships because sometimes one hot cowboy isn't enough. No-holds-barred, graphic descriptions, strong storytelling, engaging characters and breathtaking landscapes all combine to make very naughty reads.

And as a resident of Wild Wild West, Vanessa Vale finds plenty of inspiration for her work, for who doesn't love a handsome cowboy?

  6. I enjoyed the interview and kudos to your dad! My parents were farmers so it was a rare thing when they were able to make my games but those that they did attend, stand out in my mind too.
